A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing technique to improve the appearance of the skin. A solution is applied to the skin which causes it to exfoliate and "peel off". There are many chemical peels available that range from superficial to deep. The choice depends on the desired depth of penetration, treatment effect, and recovery time. Typically, the deeper the peel, the greater the results, but they are also associated with greater recovery period and adverse effects.

TCA is one of the most famous, long tested acid peels available. TCA stands for trichloroacetic acid. It is a medium depth peel that has been used with excellent results for over 135 years! That is right. TCA, is an effective chemical agent used to exfoliate and renew the skin on a superficial to deep level. TCA is commonly applied to the face, neck, décolleté, hands and legs. The benefits of superficial TCA peels are many:

The Jessner Peel is generally considered a medium level peel containing 14% of each acid (Salicylic, Lactic, and Resorcinol.) The depth of this peel is determined by the number of layers applied during application and the tolerance level of the skin it is applied to.  The distinct blend of acids work in synergy to combat hyperpigmentation, sun damage and rough texture to reveal vibrant glowing skin.

The results of chemical peels will always depend on your skin type, skin condition and the issues you’re treating with chemical peels.  Keep in mind that chemical peels will most often require multiple treatments spaced weeks or months apart, allowing for full and proper skin healing between treatments, to create optimal effects. Additionally, your doctor will advise you on proper skin care regimens to help your skin heal fully and well after each treatment.
